Image Compressor

Compress images to reduce file size for web.

Reducing image size without ruining quality

Large images slow down web pages, fill up email limits and waste mobile data. Compression reduces file size by storing the picture more efficiently. Choose a quality setting, compare the result with the original and download the smaller file.

Lossy and lossless

  • Lossy compression (JPEG, WebP) discards detail the eye barely notices. Quality around 70โ€“85% usually cuts the size by half or more with little visible change.
  • Lossless compression (PNG) keeps every pixel but saves less space. It suits logos, screenshots and images with sharp text.

Practical guidance

  • Photographs: use JPEG or WebP at 75โ€“85% quality.
  • Screenshots and logos: use PNG, or WebP lossless.
  • Resize first. A 4000-pixel photo shown at 800 pixels wide wastes most of its data.
  • Keep your original. Re-compressing an already compressed JPEG lowers quality each time.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?
