Generating fair random numbers

Choose a minimum, a maximum and how many numbers you need. The tool picks values at random, with an option to avoid repeats. It suits raffles, games, classroom picks and sampling.

How random is it?

Browsers provide a pseudo-random generator that is excellent for games and draws but is not meant for cryptographic secrets. For passwords or security keys, use a dedicated secure generator.

Worked example

To pick 3 winners from 120 entries, set the range to 1 through 120, ask for 3 numbers without repeats, and match them to the entry numbers.

Tips

• Publish the range and method before a draw so it is clearly fair.
• Do not redraw until you like the result.
