Lorem Ipsum Generator

What placeholder text is for

Lorem ipsum is dummy text used by designers and developers to fill a layout before the real content exists. Because it does not read as meaningful English, reviewers focus on spacing, typography and structure instead of the wording.

Where it comes from

The passage is derived from a work of the Roman writer Cicero written in 45 BC, scrambled so it carries no meaning. It has been used in printing and typesetting since the 1500s.

Using it well

• Generate the amount that matches your design, whether that is a single paragraph, a list or a long article.
• Replace every piece of placeholder text before a page goes live. Published pages that still contain lorem ipsum look unfinished and can be treated as low quality by search engines and ad reviewers.
• Test your layout with realistically long and short text, not only one size.
